By 1990 DFH3 diesels had taken over more passenger workings on the Jilin - Changchun line. DHF3 0063 is seen leaving the tunnel at the summit east of Tumenling with train 530, the 05:00 Dunhua - Changchun passenger on 26 February 1990.
Eastbound trains used the tunnel on the left, at a slightly higher level, while what was probably the original route of the line can be seen at a higher level still, crossing above both tunnels and curving into a cutting.
