QJ 6828 and an unidentified sister headed west from Liudigou with a long train of empty coal wagons on 29 September 2002.
The harvest was in full swing during our autumn 2002 visit and the fields teemed with people gathering in the crops. China's farmers may lack mechanical equipment but they do seem to make very effective use of the land available. Maybe there's a lesson the west could learn here?
