Deep in the heart of Baotou Steelworks was a small servicing point where the locos working around the furnaces could take coal and water without returning to the main depot. ET7 5331 availed itself of the facilities on the afternoon of 6 January 1990. The conveyor was fed with coal from the pile on the left by a man and wheelbarrow, just visible to the left of the bufferbeam. A number of Baotou's ET7s had their rear coupled wheels uncoupled, presumably to help them negotiate sharp curves that could otherwise only take one of the fast disappearing XK13 0-6-0Ts.
