The SL6 was a particularly attractive design, and those based at Jilin depot looked especially good with their chrome and brass fittings. Jilin offered attractive locations and Pacific hauled trains on each of the four lines radiating from the city, making it a great place to spend three days in February 1989.
SL 627 crested the summit at Jiuzhan in fine style with train 95, the morning Changchun - Jilin express, on 22 February 1989, the first day of our stay.
