Shortly after sunrise on the morning of 2 September 2005, QJ 7012 led a westbound freight out of the shadows and into crystal clear early morning light. The train was photographed on the lower horseshoe curve below Lindong. Visiting the line in September was always a compromise. The green landscape was a big improvement over the drab brown of winter but you had to be up early to get the white exhaust. This shot, like a number of the others in the gallery, was taken before six o'clock in the morning.
