Most southbound freights were assisted from Liushu to the summit north of Nancha by one or two helpers. This one was unusual in being powered by the helpers alone. What happened to the train engine is unknown but it must have left its load at Liushu earlier for QJ 283 (front) and QJ 1987 (rear) to pick up when convenient. The pair were photographed on the approach to the summit on the morning of 5 April 1988.
