The Russians must have really hated the Czechs to lumber them with this monstrosity. The class 835 epitomised everything that was wrong with modern train design. It was noisy and uncomfortable, the ride quality was rougher than a 4-wheel railbus and the quality of interior finish was appalling. It seemed to be fairly unreliable as well and was usually substituted by a class 830 or 850 railcar during my July 2005 visit. Fortunately Russia's plan to repay its debt to the Czech Republic with these things fell through and none were acquired by CD.
