The first class 830 railcars were introduced in 1949 and the design continued to be built until 1960. By 2004, few unrebuilt class 830s remained in traffic and even those refurbished in the 1980s (becoming class 831) were getting rare. A handful of 830s were still active in the Brno area until the end of 2005, substituting for unavailable class 850 units on shorter distance workings. 830.159 is seen approaching the junction at Strelice, west of Brno, on train 4461, the 11:46 Bohutice - Brno on 9 July 2004.
