While waiting to take this shot I heard a rustling in the row of maize plants between the bank and the track. Eventually a familiar looking little animal appeared at the top of one of the stalks and started stuffing its face with maize kernels. It was clearly a hamster and a big one at that. I assumed that it was an escaped pet but its large size, unusual colouring and the distance to any houses made me suspicious. After returning home I checked on the net and discovered that I had seen a common hamster, a wild animal and now rather uncommon. As one rare beast scuttled off, another appeared, 141.055 working Os3806 from Olomouc to Nezamyslice.
