Although they're EMUs, I was quite impressed by the ICNs. They were comfortable to travel on and photographed OK as well, with the red on the front providing a welcome splash of colour. They were at their most impressive near Ependes where two southbound trains, travelling a few minutes apart, were booked to cross two northbounds at speed in open country. 500.042 raced south from Ependes on ICN522, the 10:48 from St.Gallen to Genève-Aéroport on 6 September 2012.
