During my ten year holiday from photographing in the Thames Valley, intermodal traffic grew significantly and new container terminals opened in all manner of places. This train originated at one of the new terminals, Hams Hall Parsec. I'm happy enough with the Hams Hall part of the name, I did some of my training there many years ago, but where did the Parsec bit come from? A Parsec is an astronomical unit of measurement, equivalent to about 19 trillion miles or the distance a Class 66 could cover in 29 million years at maximum speed. What this has to do with Hams Hall is anyone's guess.
66.558 passed Spring Farm, north of Goring & Streatley, with 4O15, the 07:43 Hams Hall Spaceport, sorry, that should read Parsec, to Southampton M.C.T. Freightliner.
