607 crossed a typical river bridge north of Tank with train 320, the 07:00 Colleen Bawn - Mpopoma freight on 27 June 1987. Spending money on grand infrastructure wasn't in the plan when railways were built in this part of the world, so the line follows the contours as much as possible. Crossing rivers inevitably requires a descent on one side and a climb on the other, clearly visible here. Sharp curves and steep gradients reduce the need for earthworks but make the railway more difficult and more expensive to operate.
