Although we didn't know it at the time, this was the last all steam afternoon eastbound working we were to see on Jingpeng Pass. The following day saw a significant reduction in the volume of steam working over the Daban to Haoluku section. Diesel + steam combinations continued but we saw very few all steam workings in our remaining three days on the line.
QJ 7007 and QJ 7009 had just emerged from Tunnel 4 with a freight from Haoluku at 15:38 on the afternoon of 30 November 2004.
