A triple-headed SyltShuttle had been reported a few weeks before my visit but it wasn't the sort of thing that happened very often, was it? Seeing the stop signs for single, double and triple headed shuttles at Westerland made me wonder whether it was such a rarity after all. This was actually the second triple header that I saw but the first one took me by surprise and I didn't get a shot. Figuring out that there were probably two spare locos to go back to Niebüll, I made sure I didn't miss the next one.
218.389, 218.376 and 218.315 were on the front of AS-K1421, the 10:10 Westerland - Niebüll shuttle, photographed as it started to cross the Hindenburgdamm on the morning of 28 September 2015. The third loco didn't appear to be working.
