The RENFE Class 354 was the last of 3 purpose built B-B diesel-hydraulic classes designed to haul Talgo trains at speeds of upto 180km/h, later increased to 200km/h. Krauss-Maffei built 8 locos in 1984-84 but several were written off in accidents and the last 3 were withdrawn in 2009.
