From December 2016 travellers between northern Switzerland and Ticino didn't have to waste their time looking at glorious scenery. Instead of alpine views, passengers were able gaze out at 57km of uninterrupted concrete tunnel wall, a vast improvement. Over half the journey from Zürich to Bellinzona is now in tunnel. The Swiss certainly know what it takes to attract tourists to their railways, more reinforced concrete!
