Life continued as normal in Newtonhill as 800.107 passed with 1E25, the 14:52 from Aberdeen to Kings Cross, on the afternoon of 4 March 2020. Three days earlier the first case of Covid-19 had been confirmed in Scotland and in less than three weeks the entire UK would be in lockdown, with all non-essential travel banned and the entire population confined to their homes unless they had good reason to be out. Sadly, driving to the lineside to photograph trains didn't count as a good enough reason.
