43026 and 43148 sped past Newtonhill with 1A51, the 07:41 from Glasgow Queen Street to Aberdeen, on 25 October 2021. Newtonhill was only a small village when its station closed to passengers in June 1956. It's now a sizeable commuter town that's still expanding and, along with Cove a few miles further north, could easily support a re-opened station.
